The second in the pair of large hybrid instruments, Havagraph combines a self-playing 8-string lute design with electronic processing to create airy, atmospheric chords. Referencing the Turkish root word Hava or “air,” the instrument is modeled with both organic elements and geometric arabesque designs, referencing the decoration of two other multi-string instruments, the Qanun and Santur.
