Rigged with a series of touch sensors, Automaton converts touch and movement into signals able to be read by digital audio workstations and music production software. Designed for the express purpose of creating additional material, Automaton has the potential to become a tool rather than an accessory. Touchpoints on the piece reference parts of familiar objects—like the fingerboard of a violin or the toggle on a game controller— and inform tactile, intuitive play.
